| Lepe Beach lies at the mouth of the Beaulieu River estuary, on the south coast of England - it's the area I grew up with. Gypsy Lane and Inchmery are a little further upriver, then Brickyard Creek; there's a small boatyard, and the other side of the river is Gull Island. Lately, the saltmarshes have been dying back and eroding, but such places are always in a state of flux, so hopefully they'll be back. Still further up river lies Gilbury and, across the river from it, Bucklers Hard. The outer banks are on the seaward side of the River, beyond Gull Island, and are only exposed at low spring tides. |
| Naturally, Lepe has been a subject for many postcards over the years; here are a few from days gone by. Most will have been taken by local photographer Edward Mudge. |
